The common pheasant (latin: Phasianus colchicus, dutch: fazant) is a non-jungle junglefowl.
The common pheasant was originally living a peaceful life in the jungle of asia. That was until the romans figured out they existed. Because their ass was so juicy they took those birds and brought them to Europe, primarily to get hunted. To this day they are still one of the most hunted birds. This is probably because they are supposedly fairly tasty. I doubt that though. I think its because they just sit still a lot of the time and they are pretty big. And hunters don’t like to put in any type of effort into their own hobby. They just shoot the easiest target and then act like it was a hard thing to do.
Anyway as you can see when you look to the right of this page, the male and the female look very different. The male has a glossy head and red body while the female is more subtle. They are both beautiful in their own ways, I however prefer the females.
They usually walk around in the grass looking for seeds or something. Maybe they lost some jewellery and they are looking for that, they are sometimes called ring-necked pheasants for a reason.
